This lesson is designed to teach you how to identify abuse in older people and the law relating to the abuse. It identifies protections available for you as a carer and the older person who is experiencing the abuse. If you are working in Aged Care, you should become familiar with the Aged Care Act 1997 and the Residential Care Manual 2009.
The lesson contains three sections, each followed by a quiz.
Part 1 - Forms of Abuse and strategies for responding to an abusive situation. Different forms include physical, sexual, financial, psychological, emotional and social abuse, and neglect.
Part 2 - The law and your obligations, including the Aged Car Act, liability, duty of care and defamation.
Part 3 - Policies, Procedures and Recommendations
